Dry Bags Are For More Then Wet Weather

It's Spring and more motorcycles and motorcyclists are getting back on the road.  Spring weather can be unpredictable with getting caught out in the rain being a distinct possibility.  If you're traveling or simply commuting, rain can "dampen" things like cloths or other important items in a hurry.

One of the most useful and often overlooked pieces of motorcycle luggage is the Dry Bag.  Dry bags have been used for years in outdoor activities where cloths and other items need to be kept dry from rain or water from lakes, rivers or the ocean.  A number of companies have adapted the dry bag for use in motorcycling.  These bags come in a wide range of sizes and shapes, with a few coming in the form of attached saddle bags.  A dry bag can be used on any style of motorcycle and they are easy to attach and to pack.

Dry bags are also useful if you're riding in an area where it will be dusty as they keep the dust away from your cloths and other items as effectively as they repel water.

Dry bags also come in backpack form.

Companies that make dry bags specifically for motorcycling include;
  • SW Motech / Bags Connection
  • DrySpec
  • Giant Loop
  • Wolfman
  • Mosko Moto
  • Touratech
  • Givi
  • First Gear
  • Nelson-Rigg
If you wish to keep your gear dry and / or dust free, consider investing in a dry bag or two.
