The Power Of The Backpack

The Power Of The Backpack

Another adventure begins with my backpack

The backpack is a powerful piece of luggage that is often overlooked and yet should be one of your most important piece of kit.

I travel everywhere with my backpack.  I take it to work, I wear it when I make quick day or weekend trips and it’s with me on all of my long trips.

Heading out on a weekend adventure

My backpack is "pre-packed" with items that I use all the time.  I have a small camera, a notebook, a book and magazine that I want to read, my tooth brush and tooth past, the items that I need to charge and listen to my iPhone and during riding season my inReach global locator.  Within a few minutes I can add a few items of clothing and other necessary items and be out the door for a long weekend.

I have one particular backpack that’s been with me to at least 6 countries and over thousands of miles.  It’s been with me on all of my travels and adventures over the past 10 years.

What should you look for in a backpack?

It should be comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

It should have enough room to pack what you need for a long weekend.

It should have a few compartments to separate your items.

It must be able to be carried on an airplane.

If you ride in the rain or in dusty conditions, a waterproof pack or cover is nice to have.

Harness the power of the backpack and let it help you get away for quick adventures and us it for the adventures of a lifetime.

Rain or shine.  In this case a lot of rain.
